Catch & Release Fishing Pool

At low tide at the Eastern end of West Moore Island a natural rock pool forms. As this pool never dries many fish species remain behind when the tide recedes. Blue-bone groper, spotted cod, spanish flag and mangrove jack are plentiful and provide a great opportunity to hone casting and landing skills or just enjoy Pilbara fishing from your very own beach.

As this pool is close to the lodge it provides guests with solid fishing any time of the day - high or low tide. (We've landed some cracking queenies at high tide) We do ask, however, that fish caught here be released so as to not disturb the balance of stocks around the Island.

Locals who have spent time in Port Hedland fishing and elsewhere in the Pilbara fishing will appreciate the similarities and love the huge range of other fishing options West Moore Island presents to avid anglers. Fans of beach fishing and those who love to cast from the rocks will be spoilt with plenty of ground to explore from all areas of the islands' shore.!
